Take Control of Your Health

New Year, New You?

If you’re like most people, you’re coming out of the fog of holiday food and festivities feeling a little bloated and sluggish. You’ve been putting off changes in habits or routines for the last few months, knowing that your willpower would be weaker during the holidays.

And now it’s time,  time to make some changes. But what exactly are you going to do, and why? People make health goals for lots of different reasons.

  • Maybe you’re in good health overall but don’t feel as energized and fulfilled as you’d like.
  • Maybe you’re on the verge of chronic disease and want to make lifestyle changes to prevent it.
  • Maybe you’ve tried what your doctor prescribed but aren’t feeling any better. You’re frustrated and aren’t sure where to go next.

Whatever your goals or motivations may be, our number one message is this...You have to take control

  • You know your body. You know what you’ve tried and how well it worked for you.
  • If you’re not happy with your health, it’s up to YOU to take responsibility for your own body and lifestyle.

This is powerful. Most people spend their lives putting their health and well-being in other people’s hands, whether that be a doctor, therapist, personal trainer, or other health practitioner. We want them to fix us, to find the magic formula to make everything better.

But life rarely works that way. The hard truth is that YOU have to do the work. All of the experts can help, but you get to find the pieces and put them together in a way that makes sense for you and your body.

Good News...You Have Options

  • It’s ok to blend natural treatments with conventional healthcare. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Happy with your treatment for one issue but not another? Keep what works and explore options for the rest. Be sure that all your healthcare practitioners know what treatments, medications, and supplements you’re taking to avoid any conflicts.
  • Educate yourself. Learn all you can about your issues and their causes. Look at conventional health websites and books as well as natural practitioners and methods. Look deeper than the symptoms. Some imbalances, such as insulin resistance, can manifest themselves in many different ways. Symptoms that seem unrelated on the surface may have common roots. The more you understand the causes of your issues, the more likely it will be that you can find a treatment that will relieve your symptoms for good.
  • Don’t get discouraged. It’s likely that your study will uncover conflicting research, conclusions, and ideas. Don’t give up. Look deeper to see what they have in common. Trust your instincts and past experiences to decide which path is right for you. A little trial and error can help you understand what your body needs.

Knowledge Is Power

The more you know about your health needs and what works best for you, the more empowered you will be to take control of your health. When you have the courage to act on what you learn, you will trust your instincts more and more. You will be able to fine-tune your own health and the well-being for your family.
