Luke Petersen

Farmer Luke

Luke Petersen, often known as "Farmer Luke", shares the spirit of gardening and becoming connected with the earth. He is the owner and operator of Petersen Family Farms located in Riverton, Utah. He is a 5th generation farmer and has brought old and new traditions together to create a farm experience for all the sense right in the middle of town. He believes caring for the land is not what we do, it is a part of who we are. The Farm isn’t just where food grows, its the place where life happens. Something wonderful grows when we connect our life with others, and to the land.
Petersen Family Farm is a leader in the produce industry both in production and innovative business practices and has received the Best of State award for Produce for the past 3 years.  In 2018 we were honored with the State Statue Award for "Best of Best" for the entire Production and Manufacturing category.  Luke and Hilarie were one of 10 couples  who received the National 2018 Outstanding Young Farmer award.  Luke received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at Utah State. He also studied abroad and graduated from the Royal Agriculture University in England with a Masters in Food and Agribusiness Management. He has served on many local boards including 4 years as the President of the Salt Lake County Farm Bureau.  He currently serves on the Utah Commissioner of Agriculture’s Advisory Board representing Urban and Small Farms.
